You know your city.
Someone would love to meet you.
No tours, no scripts, no itinerary. Meet travellers with common interests and share something you both enjoy.
Become a verified LocalFree to join. Locals volunteer their time and are not paid. Travellers simply cover reasonable costs for their Local, such as an entrance fee, a drink or a coffee, etc. What that means.
A coffee. A walk.A conversation. A connection.
You don’t need to be a tour guide.
You don’t need an itinerary.
You don’t need to know every monument.
You just need to enjoy meeting people.
How it works
1Tell us a little about you
Where you live, the languages you speak, what you love and what you’d enjoy sharing with someone visiting your city.
2We check who you are
Nobody appears on the site until a person has read their application. Your profile shows a verified badge, never your documents.
3You choose, every time
A traveller asks. You accept, suggest another time, or say no, and you never owe anyone a reason. Every meeting is mutually agreed.
What someone might ask you
Wild Card
What if they ask for something not listed?
Our list can never cover everything. Someone might want a game of billiards, an hour of birdwatching or a go at a local card game nobody outside the neighbourhood has heard of.
Wild Card means those unusual requests can come your way too. Have a look and decide if it’s for you, just like any other request.
Staying safe
Meet somewhere public, never share your address, tell a friend where you are going, and stop any meet-up that does not feel right. You never owe anyone an explanation, including us.
We read every application, and usually have a video call, before anyone is approved. That is real, and it is also not a background check. Please use your own judgement as well as ours.
